Meline Carranza, Treasurer
Meline is currently an Assistant Portfolio Manager with the Treasurer Tax Collector’s Office at the County of Orange. She is part of a team that oversees a portfolio of $12 billion dollars, which include the tax receipts and operating funds of the County. Prior to her role at the County of Orange, she worked in the securities industry both at a large investment bank and insurance company. She has an MBA in Finance and is completing a designation through the Government Finance Officers Association (Certified Public Finance Officer) that prepares individuals for leadership in state, and local governments by enhancing skills in public finance.
“My first job was as a sales representative for a small clothing store chain, I was 16 and making minimum wage. At the time I was incredibly shy and introverted. One of my main responsibilities was to greet customers and ask if they needed assistance. This simple task forced me outside of my comfort zone and helped me hone my customer service skills. Years later these same relationship building skills have proved invaluable as many of my roles have had an aspect of relationship management. Its interesting to me that such a simple job has left such a meaningful mark on me so many years later.”
