Volunteers
- Mock Interviewers
Interviewing can be intimidating! YES volunteers teach clients how to interview with ease, so they can approach employers with greater confidence and focus on why they are the better candidate for the job.
Our Mock Interviewing Process matches clients with volunteers, so they can practice what they’ve learned from the Employment Skills Class. Interviewers lead the client through an interview, similar to what they would experience in a real hiring situation. They guide clients to use what they’ve learned about themselves, encourage them to distinguish their attributes from the competition, and coach them on how to improve their presentation skills.
Clients may repeat mock interviews as often as desired and we encourage them to work with different volunteers to gain experience working with interviewers with differing styles. YES volunteers routinely comment on how fun and satisfying it is to work with clients this way.
Mock interviews are virtual, pre-scheduled, video calls that are currently facilitated through 45-minute Zoom Meetings only.
- Employment Skills Facilitators
Employment Skills volunteers facilitate an engaging 2-hour workshop that introduces essential skills such as how to fill out a job application properly, how to start building a resume, and how to present the “tell me about yourself” elevator pitch to an employer.
Employment Skills facilitators will receive a leadership guide and comprehensive training to conduct 2-hour interactive workshops that help our youth expedite their pathways to success. Workshops are typically held every other Tuesday from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
- Customer Service Facilitator
The purpose for the Customer Service Workshop is for clients to gain an edge by learning these highly sought-after skills. This workshop teaches elemental skills every employee should know regardless of industry or position, such as: communication, customer service, conflict resolution, job retention skills and personal branding.
Customer Service facilitators will receive a leadership guide and comprehensive training to teach this 2-hour workshop.
