YES hosted another successful workshop!
On October 14-15, 2019, YES partnered with Starbucks to host a Mock Interview Workshop for 33 Juniors and Seniors at Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo.
Michelle Tachick, YES Program Specialist kicked off the workshop by teaching Employment Skills to the high school students. Following the Employment Skills workshop, students had the opportunity to put their new skills into practice by going through mock interviews facilitated by 6 Starbucks managers. These managers volunteered their time as a part of a grant provided by the Starbucks Foundation to Youth Employment Service (YES) to support youth in our community.
Starbucks lead managers Blythe Persinger and Nicholas Kinneberg were very impressed with the student’s dedication to learning the employment skills and their aptitude to apply those skills during the mock interviews. The students expressed that they found the experience meaningful. Although they walked into the workshop feeling nervous and timid, they left feeling confident, empowered and ready to apply for jobs. After the workshop, several students were given business cards by a one of the Starbucks managers and encouraged to apply for a barista position at their store.
